Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve is one of tradition.  It hardly varies year to year.  Even as the kids get older (re: adults), they look forward to Christmas Eve and our traditions.

 Christmas Movies--One of our Christmas Eve traditions is to watch Christmas movies.  This year I have a line up that just can't be beat.  Even though we are all 20 years of age or older, these still hit the spot!  There are some off beat movies this year but that is what makes it new each year.
Supper--Christmas Eve supper is the same as it has been for many years.  It will hopefully be this way for the rest of my life.  It is tradition after all!  Recipes will be posted sometime later.
  • Meatloaf
  • Red cabbage and apples
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Bread and butter
  • Chocolate chip cookies
Presents--we each open one present on Christmas Eve.  That present always has been and always will be new pjs.  Now by new, I sometimes mean new to us, but new none-the-less.  This year we hit a good sale at Wal-Mart on Black Friday and snagged new ones for everyone!!  Woo-hoo!  In order from oldest child to youngest and me to husband....

So, I am looking forward to Christmas Eve this year just as much as every other year.  It is a reminder that no matter how old we get, we still have a bit of child in us that looks forward to kids movies and chocolate chip cookies!

    I love your traditions! It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie, but I've seen a Christmas Story so many times that I can probably do it word for word.

    We are doing a low key Christmas this year and really appreciate the time together vs. just getting more "stuff" ya know?! Merry Christmas!!

GGMS or Good Girl Moonshine.  A drink made of apple cider vinegar, water and sweetener.  Pearl and Serene of Trim Healthy Mama coined the phrase Good Girl Moonshine  as an all day sipper and made it popular, but drinks with apple cider vinegar and ginger date back to at least the Laura Ingalls Wilder days. In those days Laura called it Ginger Water.   In the first chapter of  "The Long Winter", Laura talks about Ma sending them ginger water to drink.  A little Prairie Moonshine if you will! Morning Chocolate Craving

So metimes I just feel like having chocolate.  There is no rhyme or reason, chocolate just sounds good.  Unfortunately, I can't blame my love of chocolate on my mother like I did  all things grape.   Well, I can but not for depriving me of chocolate...more for giving me chocolate!  My favorite chocolate thing ever is Chocolate Flavored Pudding Cake.  My mom would make one of those and she and I would finish it off in a night and a day.  My dad's favorite flavor was lemon flavored pudding cake.  I didn't learn to appreciate that flavor until later in life.  However, I still have my love of chocolate.  I have tried several "low carb" chocolate foods.  Sadly, most are pretty terrible in my opinion.  Just being real.  But, there are some that I can pallet and a very few that I really like.  Breakfast this morning were my two favorite low carb chocolate favorites.  First off is Briana's Superfood Brownie Single.  It is made with okra of all things.  But it so goo

I Am 50

OK, ok, in 3 years I'll be 50.  But that's like half a century.  Half. A. Century.   Seriously, when did I get this old?  In my head I am still in high school rocking out to Whitesnake, Meatloaf and Bon Jovi, singing to Billy Joel and Dan Fogelberg songs, dreaming that one day I will meet Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and knowing someday I will be a roady for Van Halen.  In real life I am a wife of 22 years, a mother of three grown children, I own a house, have two jobs and, in case anyone is interested, I am not nor have I ever been, a roady for Van Halen.   I am not going to dwell on this but we have had a rough few years.  At the end of 2015 we said 2016 would be a great year.  Nope.  That was a misnomer.  At the end of 2016 we said 2017 would be a great year.  NOPE!  January 11 of 2017 rocked our world and to say the least, it has not been a great year.  I can only hope 2018 will be better.
